Maxims from an old fart

Put others ahead of self in your thoughts, words and deeds.

Think not in terms of good or bad: consider what is stronger or weaker, better or worse.

Rules without purpose are no rules at all.

Enjoy the things you create – take time to savor them – otherwise, what’s the point?

Praise God in all circumstances.

Be thankful for what you have rather than focused on what you lack.

Bigotry is the belly fat of ignorance.

Kindness and courtesy are never wasted.

Disclaimer These are not original concepts. I simply offer my endorsement of each as time-tested. They extend beyond what I believe and into what I know to be truths.

God IS

For many people this statement falls into the category of belief. For me, personal experiences along with a considerable amount of study makes my declaration as close to truth as anything else I might say. Of course, differing concepts about the nature of a divine creator are debated by the most scholoarly theologians of many religions and denominations. For those who practice their belief, such knowledge is a factor in shaping character.

H A T E

Hate is a choice.

And it is a deadly cancer.

Would you choose cancer?

So what do you hate?

And why do you cling to it?

Fantasy vs. Reality

Challenge question: What do you know and what do you believe?

Consider: What do you accept as fantasy yet pursue with the passion of a lifelong dream?

The musings of poets novelists and journalists have merit so far as they offer insight into behavior. The choices we make form the consequences we all suffer.
